ARTHRITIS IN DOGS

Arthritis in dogs is as painful to them as it is to us. Stiff, swollen joints will slow your pet down making it hard for them to go up & down stairs or run and play in the yard. While there is no cure for arthritis, there are may ways to manage the pain.

Arthritis comes in several forms, Osteoarthritis, Immune-mediated and Infective. Osteoarthritis is the most common. It can be caused by a traumatic injury, obesity which causes stress on joints and limbs, poor genetics or OCD.

In order to properly diagnose arthritis, a vet may take x-rays or draw joint fluid. There are many courses of action to take once your dog has been diagnosed. They range from anti-inflammatory drugs to holistic procedures like acupuncture.
